Required suggestions regarding mesh type dish

Hai friends...

Recently I purchased 12ft mesh type dish(it is very old handmade dish and mesh is almost damaged). I tried to setup intelsat and managed to get 53% on sony channels in 68.5.
In other 8ft metal dish i am getting 80% on same channels. Why this signal drop in mesh dish? Is it due to damaged mesh?
Now I want to change new mesh. So, please suggest me If I change into new mesh(It will cost Rs.1000 here) will it work better than 8ft metal dish. Or I shoud replace mesh by metal plates(It will cost Rs. 3000 here).
My target is Asiasat5 100.5, my location is Uganda, africa. Waiting for your valuable suggestions.

RE: Required suggestions regarding mesh type dish
There is no bend in structure. But mesh surface is not flat. Lot of joints there in mesh.
